TO TANNER WITH LOVE
I look at the man who stands before me
Where once a child stood
He knows not what lies ahead
Facing each day as though his last
I admire my son who stands before me
Where once a young boy stood
The child-like look in his eye is gone
His playful days behind him
I stare at the soldier who stands before me
Where once a civilian stood
At attention he waits, tall and strong
Unsure of a world he has never seen
Whatever his choice, what road he takes
With him he carries a code
The love of God and Country
And the pride of a Mother's love.
With tears and respect
