Is there a particular group of Stations where my Soldier might go for Combat Engineering after AIT(which is at FLW along with Basics).
What are the Odds of Deployment? He just left today 2/26/09 for Basics. I am very nervouse he might be stationed overseas where it will be hard to visit.

They can be stationed any where the Army has a Post. Here or overseas. They are place per the needs of the Army and who has slots for that MOS about the time he graduates.

Hi,
My son graduated in Dec, Combat Engineer FLW and is stationed at Fort Lewis, Wahington. He really enjoys his MOS... and is currently in training for deployment in California.

He could be stationed in Washington, Colorado, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, Hawaii, Japan, Korea, Germany, or Italy (and I may be missing one or two locations).

Hard to say, but since he will be wearing the uniform of a United States Soldier there is always a possibility of being deployed.

Yes you can visit his post.

Since he's only been there for one day, an address will take awhile. First he has to go through Reception (in-processing) that takes a week or more, then he is assigned to a training unit. Usually about a week after being assigned to that training unit, you should get an address.

My son is a 21B. He has been in the Army now for about 1 1/2 years. His duty station is Ft. Carson-he spent about 1 year there and then he was off to the Sandbox.

My son is 21B and left for OSUT last May. Grad was in Aug, 1st duty station about 3 weeks later and 2 weeks after that was included in a deployment ceremony. They left almost immediately for a 12 month deployment. From talking to others, this is not "the norm" but it can happen. Plan to go to FLW for family day and graduation if you can.

Jason is in Wiesbaden, Germany with the First Armored Division. They're training and he's enjoying both the work and the beer!

My son wishes he were in Germany (or anywhere) enjoying the beer! They only have non-alcholic beer where he is. He's counting down - by paydays - now that he's halfway through his first deployment.
