We received our first letter from Colin on Thurs(2-4) - Yayyy! He just started OSUT on 1-29 and so far he said it is a strict environment but not too bad - yet. He told about the briefing from the battalion commander - thought someone might find it kind of neat...mad me smile - "We got a briefing from the battalion commander today and he was awesome. Your typical roughneck, squareheaded, no nonsense type of guy. He explained how there are 3 types of people in the world: sheep. wolves, and sheepdogs. We are the sheepdogs, protecting the flock from the predators of the world. Also, when things go bump in the night, we're the ones that bump back! Infantry, hooah! The queens of battle and backbone of the Army."

Pretty cool!

Thank you for posting that great quote from your son. Even a little detail like that, from someone else, warms my heart and helps fill in a little of what my son's experience might have been (he wrote to us from OSUT, but not much detail; we just returned from graduation). Thanks so much for thinking to share it.

Btw, both myself and husband are graduates of MSU! Go green! :-)

Go Broncos, too! Ha! We grew up in MI; now live in Bronco country and love it in the wild west.
