I have no idea if there is a better place to post this or not. This site was my Godsend for 13 weeks while my fiancee was in Missouri for AIT training. He's an 88M in the National Guard and since has returned home. The holiday season was that much more of a blessing having him back home with us all.

Now I find that I am in need of support again and not exactly sure where to look and what I should be asking. I recently found out that we are expecting, and while I am completely excited, I am also quite scared. I had barely gotten use to the idea of being an Army girl, and now we have a baby to think about. To complicate matters a little more, my soldiers unit recently has asked for volunteers to go to Haiti...

Help someone! I'm feeling so overwhelmed and I have no idea where to find support or someone that might understand what I am going through right now...

Thanks,
~Chelle

Well, I think one of your best resources would be our very own founder/owner of "Go Army Parents", Armymom (Angelia). You don't see her much around here because she is also very busy helping to run a Pregnancy Resource/Support site.

Why don't you send her a PM here > Click Here

I came home from work one day and my wife was sitting in the living room with our daughters age 1 1/2 yrs old and 3 yrs old. I thought something was very wrong, she was crying uncontrolably. I checked the girls and they were fine. I asked what was wrong, she said I am expecting. I was overjoyed. What could be wrong? She said we live in a house with only two bedrooms! I called my dad, who grew up in a two bedroom farmhouse with 5 brothers and sisters. He laughed all night. Well that was 20 yrs ago, things worked out. We now have a son who makes us proud everyday as a young infantryman. Looking back my wife and I just smile. Have faith, things will work out. Tough times don't last, be tough people do!

I'm sure others will have better "words of wisdom", but wanted to reach out to you. Talk to your fiance and I'm sure the two of you will work through it and everything will be fine. Take one day at a time. Congratulations!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Mominmn, I think your words of wisdom were just right. I find it amazing when I look back over the years of my life, especially at the times that seemed like such a huge crisis, and I realize that everything just kind of worked out, I somehow muddled through. Even more amazing is that many of the biggest crises turned out to hold the biggest blessings in the end :)

My younger son has a saying: You can look at a cup as half empty or half full. Me, I take that half full cup, get a smaller cup and pour it in there and let my cup runneth over. You will find a way to take care of that little blessing you are carrying. {{{{HUGS}}}}

Chelle,
Congratulations!
No one is ever prepared to be a parent; it's a constantly challenging, but incredibly rewarding role!
I'm glad you have people at GAP to turn to for support, and you should also have people through the National Guard that are there for you. You have resources through your FAC (Family Assistance Center) your FRG (Family Readiness Group) MFLAC (Military & Family Life Consultant). Try going to www.jointservicessupport.org to see what is available to you in your state. You're not alone, there are other women who have walked this road and can encourage you.

Congratulations Chelle!

I can understand that you're being scared and I don't see anything wrong with that at all, so don't feel bad. Becoming a mom can be a scary thing and when your situation is as yours it tends to be even worse.

So although I have no wise words of wisdom I see that you've already gotten plenty of good sites and ideas. All I have left at this point is to wish you lots of luck with your pregnancy and bundle of joy later on. Please know that there is always someone around to listen to you if you need to talk, you can pn anytime too if you'd like.

CONGRATS!!!!

Babies are a scary thing to contemplate, but they are wonderful. Couldn't believe it when the hospital let us leave with our first one. It was like - "You're kidding, you're going to let us leave with this helpless little life and no one is going to follow us home and make sure we're getting it right?"

My wife and I were young, poor, ignorant, and loved it.

Just keep asking for help and advice when you need it and you will be fine. And you will wonder how life was at all interesting and worthwhile before you had your child. God bless!

Well, I had my first baby at age 35 (my Army son) and didn't feel ready for it then! I think very few really plan it out and are really ready for it. These things have a way of working out for the best. Celebrate! It's a wonderful thing!
