Stupid Flu shot

Tuesday, November 29, 2005

I have always refused flu shots. I have never seen the point in giving myself a illness to prevent a illness. If I was prone to sickness I could see it, but otherwise no. The Army on the other hand believes that the flu shot is a good thing, and I suppose it it is in some circumstances.
Nick received the flu shot last week, and now has the flu, He did his run yesterday despite being ill, and throwing up twice. He says he apologized to DS, but DS told him he did good, for doing the run despite fighting the illness. I asked Nick if he was going to go to medical today if he didn't feel better, but he said no, he had something to do, and if he didn't feel better Wednesday he would go.
This is hard for me. He is over 1400 miles away from home, and I cant do a damn thing to make him better. I know that other army moms have it worse. I am dreading when he goes overseas.

Thanksgiving has come...

Saturday, November 26, 2005

and gone, and brings us closer to exodus, or whatever the Army is calling Christmas leave these days.
Nick said he had a nice dinner, and that there were even ice sculptures at the Thanksgiving dinner he attended. He also is a slight bit miffed (understatement) and some new guys in his unit. Seems they broke some rules that are well enforced, and that the rest of the company may have to also deal with the punishment. He doesn't understand what is so hard about following the rules, or why someone that is 33 would mess up in such a way. My son told me thank you for raising him the way I had, and that all those times I said you will understand why when you are older, he is understanding. Aww, made me cry. I was proud of him before as a child growing up, but the pride that I feel now is overwhelming at times, its not more but totally different.

Thanksgiving

Wednesday, November 23, 2005

is tomorrow. It doesn't seem like it. Nick isn't home. He's on the otherside of the country from me.
He tells me they are going to have a nice dinner tomorrow, and that they even have to wear their class A's. But its not home.

In other news.
Nick completed his rapelling exercise last Saturday, only to be told when he got back that everyone had to move. Move dorm rooms that is. The move had to be completed by 6pm Sunday. Nick wanted to go into town to do some stuff, but wasn't able to. He wanted to go ahead and move then Saturday night, but the guys room he was supposed to move to, that guy couldn't move because the room he was moving to, the guy there refused to move his things till Sunday morning.
Nick got moved Sunday. His room has no cell reception. He no longer has easy access to a pc. So I guess after Christmas he will be purchasing a pc. I think...
Thats the Army, go here, dont ask just do it. :)

Heres to hoping

Saturday, November 19, 2005

Nick had a rapelling exercise today. I asked him to take pictures I am hoping he does. I can't wait to hear how it went.
Just about a month left till exodus. Again another I can't wait.
I sure do miss that kid.

THANK A VETERAN

Wednesday, November 09, 2005

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who gave us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN, not the courts, who gave us the right to keep and bear arms.
It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of press.
It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the rirght to vote.
It is the VETERAN, who salutes the Flag, and serves under it.

REMEMBER FRIDAY THE 11th.

Today..

Tuesday, November 08, 2005

is one of those days I am missing Nick a bit more than normal. I was hoping he would call tonight, but he must of been busy. Hopefully tomorrow night he will. His little brother was running through the house tonight, stomping his little feet, kibbitzin the entire way. Just like his brother used when he was that age. Made me laugh, made me proud, and a little bit sad too. Doesn't seem like that long ago Nick was that age. Where did the time go, and where did my little boy go? Also made me think about how proud of him I am. What a fine young man he has grown into. I did good if I say so myself.

The flight is booked

Wednesday, November 02, 2005

We have dates, times, and anticipation. I cant wait for him to be home. I cant wait to go pick him up from the airport. I cant wait to see my son. I miss him sooo much. The only reason I am looking forward to thanksgiving is that it means I am that much closer to seeing Nick.
